The Torture Toons

From 2004 through 2007, I did several cartoons that opposed the USA torture policy.  They appeared in my newspaper strip Thadeus & Weez and in my edgy online strip The Illustrated Daily Scribble. With torture back in the news, here are a few. Click on image to view full size.

In 2004, outstanding military and state department lawyers opposed torture and argued for applying the Geneva Conventions.  This is a rerun of a Thadeus & Weez strip I did on the subject that ran in most major Texas newspapers.  http://www.thadeusandweez.com/cam04/06.27.04.html
I did this Illustrated Daily Scribble strip about torture in 2007 featuring then Attorney General Michael Mukasey, a fine lawyer and judge.  He wrote that waterboarding is reugnant, but would never call it illegal.  http://theillustrateddailyscribble.com/daily.scribble.pages.07/11.01.07.html
With torture in the news, here's a rerun of a strip I did for January 2, 2005.  Thadeus & Weez ran weekly in most of the major Texas newspapers.  http://www.thadeusandweez.com/cam05/01.02.05.html

In 2005 I was doing The Illustrated Daily Scribble, an edgy political strip. In this one George W. Bush seeks heavenly approval for torture, but instead gets hellish approval.  http://www.theillustrateddailyscribble.com/daily.scribble.pages.07/10.05.07.html
In 2005, I did this Dick Cheney Halloween House of Torture for my project The Illustrated Daily Scribble.  This week Cheney again endorsed torture.  http://www.theillustrateddailyscribble.com/daily.scribble.pages.05/10.31.05.html

Amateur aviation enthusiasts track this plane in different countries and stayed in communication about it thoroughly identifying it.
